This year we were once again part of the Odoo Experience at Brussels Expo. As you might expect, Odoo has been made so much better again. We summarise what you definitely need to know.
1. With ChatGPT you save a huge amount of time
Almost everywhere you can enter text in Odoo, you have the option to use ChatGPT. You can ask it to generate standard text for a specific use case, for example "a letter to welcome a new employee" or "a thank-you text for a customer when ordering 2 new products". With ChatGPT you can also optimise existing texts, making them more readable, shorter, or longer.
2. The Shop Floor application is a game changer for manufacturing customers
With the Shop Floor application, Odoo is now truly a top pick for customers with production processes. Due to the inherently integrated nature of Odoo, the process from order through procurement to production and delivery can be fully captured in one seamless whole. Employees can easily engage in the processes via tablets, scanners, POS interfaces, PCs, WhatsApp, and mobile to fulfil their tasks and report.
3. Peppol integration: secure and fast invoicing
Peppol is a protocol and network for securely exchanging invoices between businesses and governments across Europe in real-time. Odoo is an official Peppol Access Point and has incorporated these functionalities within the existing licenses. You can verify in a few clicks which of your customers are connected via Peppol, and then choose which contacts you want to invoice in this way.
4. Odoo is more powerful than ever for accountancy
In addition to the Peppol integration, there are many other optimisations that will sound like music to accountants.Auto reconcile and deferred entry functionality at customer level - and document level, the accounts payable follow-up is more efficient than ever, document splits are easy and effective, the OCR reports suspected scamming attempts and much more.
5. Odoo 17 has become significantly faster
Anthony Lesuisse, CTO of Odoo, presented the results of extensive code optimisations: a codebase that is 20 to 40% smaller, combined with other optimisations, means that Odoo now loads twice as fast as before!
6. Industry specific installs are great for small and start-up businesses
Through the app store, you can now start a new Odoo setup based on a very specific template: manufacturing, field service, hospitality,... by starting from a template you save a lot of time when starting your business as the full configuration is ready to use.
7. WhatsApp brings you closer than ever to your customer
WhatsApp is now fully integrated into Odoo chat. Customers can now chat, confirm choices, and give approvals directly in their Odoo interface.
8. Odoo is an end-to-end solution for bars and restaurants
The presentation of the bar and restaurant functionality was extensive and impressive. Odoo has clearly invested a lot of time and money to position Odoo as the tool for hospitality businesses. Order kiosks, table management, bill splitting, advanced kitchen management... it was truly impressive.
